As I mentioned in my last blog post there is a muslim market here in Shanghai every Friday. It is simply a must-see if you live in Shanghai! Definitely a haven for food-lovers!
How to get there: the address is 1328 Changde Lu. If you walk around you will find it on the corner of Changde Lu and Aomen Lu. The closest metro stop is Changshou Road (line 7 and 13).
Timings: from around 10 am to 3 pm every Friday.
When you arrive there will be food stalls on either side of the street. There are lots of delicious lamb dishes, and they have big pots of a known rice dish that (if I remember correctly) consists of rice, lamb and carrots. They also sell tons of bread, everything from sweets and cakes to simple pancakes and buns. And lets not forget the dumplings and noodles! Yummy 🙂
There are also pop-up restaurants where you can sit down in a chair and be served the most mouthwatering food, while enjoying the food and culture coming to life on this street. And, I’ve heard, that the meat might be some of the juiciest you can get here in Shanghai!
Be aware that it can get quite smoky though, because of all the barbeques. If you need to sit down and relax, you can find cool home-made yogurt and dried fruit to keep your energy level up 😉
I took lots of photos, hope you enjoy!
Last but not least, my favourite bread (to the left), you get 1 for 4 kuai:
