Millennium City Park, Kaifeng

KAIFENG, HENAN PROVINCE. CHINA.

Our fourth and last stop in Henan, before we embarked on a new 16-hour trainride home, was the theme park called Millennium Park (also called Qingming Riverside Landscape Garden) in the old city of Kaifeng. The whole park was built to mimic a famous twelfth century painting called The Qingming Festival by the Riverside, painted by Zhang Zeduan. The picture is painted on a 525 cm long scroll, and shows many of the buildings that are re-created in the park. As well as the architecture, the park is also known for their many performers (that are all dressed in period costumes), their souvenir shops and evening shows.

The temperature was quite high when we visited (around 30 degrees Celcius), and very humid, therefore we only ended up taking a quick walk through the park, so I might not have as many pictures for you today as I normally do! But still, enjoy 🙂
